My family and I have recently returned from a three week trip. Traveling for an extended period of time with one bag and a carry-on definitely inspires you to want to use any hacks possible to maximize your space. Whether it is for a business trip, family vacation, or spontaneous weekend away, your travel plans will flow much more smoothly when you are prepared. A few simple organization tips will help ensure that packing is as easy as possible.
-Begin with organized luggage and bags. I cannot recommend packing cubes enough! They are helpful for more than just clothing. We used a small one recently to contain all of the charging cables for the electronic devices we brought. No one wants to sort through cord spaghetti. This designated pouch can then be moved easily where it is needed; the checked bag, carry-on, or in a rental car. The photo below shows the set of cubes I use, and am currently loving.
-Keep a scented fabric sheet in the bottom of luggage to help keep clothes from smelling stale.
-Use shower caps (get these at the dollar store) to separate your shoes from your clean clothes.
-Keep a list of contact information, medical information, and other important documents in one location. Another good idea is to have a photo of your passport and ID with you on your phone. This could be helpful if you lose one of these.
-Pack a few bags for keeping dirty laundry separate on the trip. We also discovered it never hurts to ask your host for what you need. We stayed in a remote hotel in Scotland, but, when asked they were more than willing to wash/dry a load of laundry. And, they did not charge us!
Hopefully these tips will help you on your next trip! Let me know in the comments where is your favorite place to visit?
