Now that we've talked about clearing clutter from our schedules, let's move on to the clutter on our computers. Our computers can be extremely valuable tools in our lives, but they can also become inadvertently overloaded with information. It is far too easy to over-stuff a computer, because the clutter can be easily hidden from view.
However, clutter can make your computer run slower, make it more difficult to find what you need, and make life more challenging. Try these few steps to reduce computer clutter.
1. Get in the habit of creating files and folders – and using them.
2. Use an organizational system that makes sense to you, not because your friend uses it.
3. Make sure you back up your data regularly. Use anti-virus software to keep your information safe and secure.
4. Print screen shots for easy hand held references you can file in your desk. Or, use an online program like Evernote to keep your ideas in one place.
