Let's reduce some laundry room chaos!
The laundry room can be a place of clutter and piles. We can change that by trying a few easy tips.
-Use or install shelves/cabinets to hold soaps and stain removers. Keeping them up off of your appliances will reduce the visual mess.
-Compile a list of stain removal tips, laminate (for extra credit!), and hang in the laundry room for quick fixes. I picked up a magnet that I keep on my washing machine to translate the icons on those mysterious clothing tags!
-Short on counter space? If you have a wash tub, get a piece of lightweight plastic board from your local hardware store to fit over the top and have it double as extra workspace for folding or sorting.
-Have one basket for each family member, or for adults vs. kids. When laundry comes out of the dryer it can be folded and immediately put in the baskets for less sorting later. Consider installing a folding hook (as seen in the photo) to utilize any wall space.
-Don't forget to include something in the space that will bring you a smile...unless you just already really love doing laundry!
Do you have any tips that keep your laundry area clear and stress-free? Are you going to give one of these a try? Please share in the comments below!
When you think of something that you need to do, to attend, or simply to remember....Write It Down!!!! You will not recall it later. And, you may find yourself scurrying around and relying on the kindness of friends to bail you out of a jam that could have been avoided. I am sharing this cautionary tale "for a friend", of course! 😉
So, help yourself by simply writing it down. It does not matter whether you use a post-it, a journal, the back of an envelope, or an online calendar. Whatever place you will look at later will work. And, it will save your bacon.

Now that the holidays have passed, it is a great time to see what you can change or improve for next year. I am talking specifically about the decorations you are keeping in your home.
The holidays should be times spent with family and friends, and making memories. No matter which holidays are celebrated, keep your holiday decorations organized and you will be ready to help spread all that cheer. If your decorations are in a bit of a jumble, here's how to start...
-Gather all of your decorations and sort by holiday.
-The holidays for which you have the most decorations you can subdivide into smaller groups (ornaments, lights, table decorations, etc.). BONUS TIP: take a minute to write a list of what items are stored inside each bin, and keep it inside the bin. This will save you tons of time when returning decorations after the holidays. See the photo below for inspiration!
-Make sure all items are clean, have all of their pieces, and are ready for use. Let go of any that do not pass these tests.
-Use sturdy containers to store decorations. Label the sides and tops of containers with which holiday and/or description (i.e. Christmas Ornaments). Then, no matter which direction they are facing, you can still see what is inside.
-Use things like egg cartons or zipper seal bags for very small items, and then place them into larger storage bins.
-Bubble wrap or holiday towels can be used to layer between fragile items.
Organizing your holiday decorations now, will save you time next year. Less time looking for ornaments = more time for cookies, right??
